blackle-google

can black really save energy?
Recently just found out that google had gone to save earth campaign as well, which is change the entire white background from white to black. According to Blackle’s homepage at publication time, 4,408.917 Watt hours have been saved by. The site also encourages users to “make a difference today [by] … Blackling "energy saving tips" or visit[ing] treehugger.com a great blog dedicated to environmental awareness.”

well , make sense to me, while away from the computer, every computer have the screensaver, to save up the energy of the computer usage. so ... do more black website? haha they're still arguing either go black or white for the website...
"It should be stressed that this *only* saves energy if you're using a CRT screen. LCD screens are backlit, so you're always pumping out the same amount of light. And if you're using a CRT, you're using WAY more power than an LCD anyway." taken from one of the comment which written in the treehunger website.
